The Mission
To maintain 100+ acre ranch, plus three properties in Burnet & one in Leander. These are long-term, full-time jobs and the couple must take pride in the ranch with horses, cows, chickens, a dog, two houses, and landscaping on all three pieces of property. This opportunity includes $55,000 annual salary for couple, housing, utilities, and truck for work use. Medical, Dental, Vision, 15 days of Paid Time Off annually, 401k, annual raises. Opportunity to share in the bounty of a spring & fall garden.
General Requirements
• No children living at home.
• Couple must have a solid work history.
• Both parties must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• When the owner and guests are in residence, work schedules may be adjusted to accommodate.
• Must be able to legally work in US.
• Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have references.
• Ranch work can be a seven day a week job but typically five days are expected, animal care and emergencies on the other two days.
Outside Duties & Skills
• Maintain orchard: irrigation system, pruning, fertilizing, harvesting.
• Maintain 30 +/- head of cattle: feeding hay daily during cold months, provide minerals, maintain drinking watering system, worming, insecticide, moving pastures, record keeping advising need for vet.
• Maintain 9 horses: feeding hay daily during cold months, provide minerals, maintain drinking watering system, worming, grooming, advising need for vet/farrier as needed.
• Maintain a flock of 100 chickens: feeding daily, maintain drinking watering system, collecting eggs daily, maintaining coop & nesting boxes, and insecticide.
• Maintain strict organization and cleanliness of all barns and contents.
• Mechanical maintenance and repairs of all tools and equipment such as tractors, mowers, golf carts, pickup trucks, etc. with special attention to preventative mechanical maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness of all vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain inventory of animal feed, general supplies, fuel, spare parts.
• Maintain structures on property: power washing all structures top/sides, outside window cleaning, painting, staining, air filter replacement, battery changes, blowing leaves.
• Maintain grounds to a high standard including mowing, weeding, blowing, tree cutting, trash burning.
• Be aware of weather and prepare for storms, open water gaps, clean up afterwards.
• Prepare ranch for change of seasons.
• Maintain battery water to all equipment monthly, keep wires in good condition.
• General handyman type repairs, experience with basic plumbing & basic electric ESSENTIAL.
• Maintain grounds at all properties including one pool.
• Other duties as assigned such as special projects on your own or assist owner with projects.
• Must be able to operate skid steer, tractor, zero-turn mower, stick shift truck, and pull trailers.
• Must have common sense and be neat and orderly.
• Must have basic computer skills (email, internet, simple recordkeeping), and must be able to use a cellphone to send/receive texts/pictures, directions, google.
• Prior ranch experience a “MUST”.
• Must speak English, bi-lingual a plus.
• Must be proactive and very observant to see what needs to be done and do it without having to be told.
• Must be able to accomplish job without daily in-person supervision and be able to communicate with remote supervisor daily through text/phone/email.
Inside Duties & Skills
• Deep clean weekly and maintain daily the ranch house, guest cabins, RVs, and two houses.
• Change bed linens as needed after use.
• Maintain cleanliness of exterior front and rear porches, patios, driveway, outdoor furniture etc.
• Maintain cleanliness exterior BBQ areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of garage floor, walls, and ceiling.
• Do laundry for owners and guests.
• Create/manage list and then shop for owners as needed.
• Prepare meals for owners daily as requested.
• Prepare occasional Sunday Dinners for family & guests.
• Work all holidays to prep, serve, and then clean up holiday meals if owners are at the ranch or Leander house.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must be neatly dressed.
• Must have common sense, quiet, inconspicuous, discrete, and orderly.
• Must have basic computer skills (email, internet, simple recordkeeping), and must be able to use a cellphone to send/receive texts/pictures, directions, google.
